Athlete Community Manager – British Elite Athletes Association – London

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a talented and organised Athlete Community Manager to help maintain strong relationships with the BEAA membership, sport athlete representatives and other key stakeholders. The two core purposes of this position are to bring together the athlete community online, and to provide insight, information and feedback on the athlete voice.
We’re looking for someone who understands online communities and is excited to empower people, conversations and experiences in collaboration with our members. The right candidate will be enthused by the prospect of drawing together the current athlete community and have their best interests at heart by ensuring they are engaged, heard and may quickly access community resources and support. The right candidate thrives on action, while drawing on learnings from key metrics and data for greater community growth.

The key areas of responsibility for this role include:
• Day to day management of the Athlete community platform and database
• Maintaining a live database of current NGB Athlete Reps and highlighting both gaps and opportunities for sports.
• Support the execution of the roadmap for promotion of networking, collaboration, and mutual support across the athlete community
• Developing the app’s mentoring framework across the athlete community
• Collecting and reporting on feedback from participants and programme impact
• Creating subgroups and empowering subgroup initiatives
• Assist the wider BEAA team in creating events, seminars, training events, projects, news, and supporting materials to encourage community development
• To support the design and implementation of all athlete network activities including delivering workshops and other bespoke interventions within the sports environment.
• Work with the team to develop push communication and polling initiatives
• To play an active role as a member of the BEAA Athlete Support Team, participating positively in discussion and decisions relating to the BEAA’s future strategy and associated programmes and projects.
• Assist the Athlete Support Team when required in supporting selected athlete cases of a nature relevant to the athlete community workstream.

KEY SKILLS
• Ideally 5+ years experience in any of community development, digital/online engagement or elite sport
• Highly organised, good at admin
• Track record of delivering projects with significant degree of independence
• Strong program management and collaboration skills with internal team members
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical mindset and be an excellent communicator
• Possess a high level of professional and personal integrity

DESIRABLE SKILLS
• Demonstrated affinity with technology, ability to manage the online platform
• Experience working with Hivebrite community platforms is a plus
• Experience of working in high-performance sport, either as an athlete or support staff member.
• Digital design skills a plus
• Understanding of athlete community a plus
• Motivation and desire to be at the centre of building something new, evidence of ability to work pro-actively
