Job Description
The Role
To focus on maximising the value to be had from the Board to ensure that British Fencing operates to the highest standards of governance and leadership.

To inspire the development of new and maximize returns on existing revenue streams to deliver strong commercial growth.

To provide effective leadership and management of the Board and CEO to achieve the highest possible performance to deliver British Fencing’s objectives.

Develop British Fencing to increase its participating members and help provide coaching and facilities for its longer term growth.

Ensure the effective governance of British Fencing, including facilitating and sustaining board processes, and improving on governance to ensure the Board operates ‘best practice’.

To ensure that British Fencing connects effectively with members, actively seeking and acting on feedback to develop and strengthen member engagement.

To ensure British Fencing fulfils its legal, statutory and regulatory requirements from Government, funding and regulatory bodies, sponsors and partners.

The Candidate
Significant Board level experience at Chair or NED level within a commercially sustainable organisation or business unit.
Track record of achievement in delivering significant commercial growth.
Thorough understanding of board governance, budgeting, financial analysis and strategic planning is essential.
In depth experience of working effectively and in partnership with trustees and/or non-executive Directors.
A strong understanding of high performing sports is essential.
Understanding the workings and politics of key partners within Sport and commercial opportunities within the sector would be advantageous.
