Chief Executive Officer – British Kickboxing Council

Job Description
About Us
The British Kickboxing Council’s primary goal is to be recognised as the national governing body for the sport here in the UK, increasing participation, improving engagement with all areas of the wider community and developing each Discipline of Kickboxing from grassroots to elite performance.
Our sport has reached a pivotal point in its history, with the BKC itself also celebrating a milestone 10th year in operation, as we now work more closely with leading bodies within the sector than ever before.
Our work on inclusion with UK Deaf Sport, Pride Sports and the Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation, alongside our work on Safeguarding with the NSPCC, DCMS and Sport England, has cemented our place at the forefront of our industry. Similarly, our membership to the WSA, NISF and Sport and Recreation Alliance (as well as pending membership to the Activity Alliance and SSA) gives us a unique position in the UK’s sporting landscape as a whole.

About The Role
We have recently brought in a staggering array of specialists and industry experts as Non-Executive Directors, Executives and Leads, representing a seismic shift in our organisational structure and our ability to fulfil our role as governing body. We now need an exceptional leader to shape and deliver an ambitious new strategy that will propel the BKC towards securing official National Governing Body status and the long-overdue recognition of our sport.
Working to support the Board of Directors to finalise and implement a new Corporate Strategy, the focus will be:
Increasing participation and member/club engagement
Formalising a structured approach to competitions and athletes development, leading to the formation of the first unified British National Team
Ensuring the BKC continues to embrace and promote broad and inclusive participation in the sport
Significantly increasing the BKC’s commercial revenue, funding and sponsorship to better support our work and allow us to better support our clubs/athletes
About You
We are looking for someone with a strategic mindset and a proven track record of coordinating teams towards achieving agreed outcomes. The successful applicant will be able to make use of their existing relationships and experience within the industry to maximise our output and drive further commercial partnerships. We need a leader who takes a hands-on approach, a strong communicator and someone who is able to realise the commercial potential of this ever-expanding sport.
A keen interest in sport (ideally Kickboxing), and the ability to bring together different elements, both internal and external to the organisation, is essential. You will be working with the Board of Directors, including six Non-Executive Directors, as well as helping to manage the Executive Board, who come from a variety of backgrounds either within Kickboxing, sport in general or within their particular area of expertise (e.g. marketing, Safeguarding etc.).
Time Commitment And Location
All Board members (Executive, Non-Executive, Directors and Officers) volunteer what time they can. We hold a face-to-face AGM, alongside regular (at least monthly) remote meetings with members of the Board and relevant Committees.
Attendance at these meetings is preferred, where possible, in addition to self-managed work and coordination with other members of the BKC. The term is 3 years, with a maximum of 3 terms for the role.

Remuneration
There are currently no remuneration packages for any Board members or Officers of the BKC, although expenses are covered where appropriate. As the BKC and the roles within it grow, this policy will be reviewed.
