British Triathlon is the National Governing Body for Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquathlon in Great Britain, responsible for raising the profile and delivering medal-winning performances and helping everyone discover, enjoy and achieve in triathlon.
Triathlon England is one of the three Home Nations of British Triathlon, the other two being Triathlon Scotland and Welsh Triathlon. The three Home Nation Associations are responsible for all aspects of triathlon in their respective countries, and contribute to the work of British Triathlon.
BTF is a young, modern ambitious, high performing organisation, twice winner of the prestigious Sports Industry Award’s Governing Body of the Year (2010 and 2012), and recently the #BeAGameChanger Award’s National Governing Body of the Year (2017). We are looking to appoint a commercially focussed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide inspirational leadership and take the BTF forward to Tokyo 2020 and beyond. The CEO role also embraces executive responsibility for Triathlon England and fulfilment of its complementary objective of building participation, supporting and increasing membership. The CEO will work closely with both the BTF and the Triathlon England Boards and is charged with delivering against both bodies’ strategic objectives through world-class operational and tactical delivery.
The role will involve much collaborative working and the CEO will be expected to continue to build and develop these relationships, as well as forging relationships with new commercial and other partners to develop and grow our sport.
Although not essential, experience of working at senior level in a not-for-profit organisation is desirable. Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to lead a highly skilled team of diverse functions are essential. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for leading a National Governing Body, successful relationship building, and progressive strategic thinking. The BTF seeks to raise the profile of the sport through major events and raise additional revenue through sponsorship and familiarity with the organisation of major events and fund raising would be an advantage
Triathlon is proud of its reputation for good governance and the CEO will perform a key role as the organisation implements the new Governance Code and rolls out its new Clean Sport strategy.
The role will be based at the British Triathlon headquarters located on the Loughborough University Campus. The nature of the role requires frequent travel and applicants must be flexible to spend periods of time away from home at weekends and evenings with occasional travel overseas.

Interview Date: Selected candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre in Loughborough on 9-10 Aug or 10-11 Aug. Candidates should be prepared to spend up to 2 days [1 night] at the assessment centre. Candidates will be shortlisted after day 1 and informed whether they will progress to day 2. If candidates are not selected, they will be free to leave at this stage.
