Club Development Officer (Women Can) Part-Time – Bowls Development Alliance

Job Description
The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) is an organisation created to lead on the development of the sport of bowls through the clubs, counties and coaches in England. Working in partnership with Bowls England (BE) and the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd (EIBA) the BDA aims strengthen resilience in the sport by reaching 104,145 people and directly influencing 36,661.
Bowls is a popular sport with low barriers to entry and opportunities to participate throughout the year. It is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally through to elite competition. There are currently 198,000 flat green club members in over 2,500 clubs playing bowls.
The BDA is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised individual to support the delivery of the “Women Can” Programme as part of the BDA four year “Play Bowls 2017-2021” Strategy.
Your work will provide a key contribution to the BDA’s 4 -year targets as agreed by Sport England. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the core of the sport by supporting clubs to engage more women to play, coach and volunteer in the sport of bowls.
Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of two years’ experience in sports development including working with clubs at grassroots level.
You will need to be a people person with the ability to work alongside and support club committees and volunteers. Candidates will need to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting landscape.
Knowledge of bowls would be an advantage but is not essential.
Experience of working with women and/or minority groups to increase participation in sport would also be an advantage but not essential.
The role is on a part-time basis, 3 days per week / 21 hours.
