Job Description
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join our senior management team and be part of the fastest growing equestrian sport. The successful candidate will play an integral role in helping to shape and deliver our commercial and business development strategy, by generating additional sources of income for the sport.
British Dressage is the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage in the UK. Following the success of Tokyo 2020 and the World Championships in Herning 2022, dressage is enjoying a public profile like never before, with over 18,500 members taking part in more than 2,500 days of affiliated competition every year.
The Commercial Manager will drive business development across all areas of activity, managing our central sponsorship, partnerships, and affiliation programmes, as well as diversifying revenue streams through licensing, fundraising and merchandising initiatives, to fully realise the commercial potential of the sport.
Based at our Head Office in Meriden, West Midlands, with the option of hybrid working available for up to two days per week from home, they will work closely with other members of the senior management team to support membership recruitment and retention, training and education events and BD championships.
We are searching for a creative, innovative, and dynamic individual, who can provide thought leadership in this area for the organisation, while supporting colleagues in the delivery of their activity. An enthusiastic and positive team player, you will be equally capable at working independently as a highly motivated self-starter. Confident and articulate, you will be an effective ambassador, helping to build relationships with our key stakeholders, partners, and suppliers.
You will also be highly organised, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise your workload and meet tight deadlines. A knowledge of equestrian sport and interest in dressage would be advantageous but is not essential for this role. More vital is that you have extensive experience in business management, ideally gained in a sports environment, and have a proven track record of delivering commercial success.
Due to the nature of our sport a flexible approach to working, including some weekends and evenings, will be required. You must also have a driving license and be prepared to travel as necessary. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive and work collaboratively with the senior management team to assist them with the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan.
