Communications Manager – Crawley Wasps Ladies Football Club

Job Description

You will join an ambitious club with a talented first team still carrying the momentum of back-to-back promotions, a burgeoning youth section with more than 100 players and a family of supportive sponsors.
Although a busy role, you will be well supported by a communications officer, commercial manager, club photographer and the main committee. You will also work alongside the club’s current communications manager during a handover period, to create a new communications and marketing strategy that supports the club’s vision and ambitions.

ꟷ Work closely with the first-team manager and players, and support the aims of the club’s other senior and youth teams
ꟷ Help manage the club’s official website
ꟷ Help manage the club’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
ꟷ Alongside the club’s communications officer, write match reports and news articles, conduct interviews both pre and post-match, and act as PA announcer on home matchdays
ꟷ Liaise with the club’s wide network of national, regional, local and trade media contacts to secure coverage of the club in print, online and on TV and radio
ꟷ Help produce content for the club’s matchday programme
ꟷ Support the generation of commercial income by maximising media support for sponsorship
ꟷ Monitor the club’s media and new player email addresses
ꟷ Regularly attend first-team matches (and games involving the club’s other teams where possible), main committee meetings and club events, and act as an enthusiastic supporter of the club’s aims and objectives
Please note: Most of the above responsibilities will be divided up among the communications team

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
ꟷ Experience of writing football match reports and articles
ꟷ Confidence to conduct broadcast-style interviews and communicate with players, staff and fans
ꟷ An enthusiasm for women’s football and a working knowledge of the women’s football pyramid
ꟷ Ability to meet deadlines and excellent time-management skills
ꟷ Sensitivity towards confidential information
ꟷ Able to attend matches (home & away) on Sundays and some midweek evening training sessions

Experience of managing communications and/or marketing (particularly in football), experience of using WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Audition and Dropbox, and experience of using social media accounts in a professional context are all desirable, but training in these areas can be provided.
