Communications Officer – Aston Villa Football Club

Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and ambitious, Communications Officer to work within our Communications Team, based at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground. The role will involve providing full administrative support for the team and coordination communications service activity and projects, whilst providing general support to the team.
The successful candidate will have a strong administration background, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task and keep track of various activities. You will possess strong organisational skills as ability to communicate effectively and confidently with staff at every level of the Club as well as external media.

Key Responsibilities: –
• To assist the Communications Director in the development and implementation of effective internal and external communication activity
• Provide full administrative support to the Communications Director as required.
• In conjunction with other members of the department, ensure a smooth matchday process including assisting with accreditation, matchday queries and helping to manage the post-match Mixed Zone.
• Assist in the delivery of player appearances from the start of the process to completion
• Responsible for the maintenance of the Club’s intranet, keeping them up to date, making it attractive and informative.
• Monitor and report on departmental communication channels including post and departmental email inboxes

Key skills and experience required: –
• Proven experience working in a sporting communications role
• Proven Administration experience
• A knowledge of football communications/media
• An ability to build and nurture working relationships with members of the wider media
• Able to produce high quality publicity materials, and to design and edit web pages is desirable
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Knowledge of software systems such as DataCo desirable
• NCTJ trained or equivalent qualification is desirable
• Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with staff at every level of the Club as well as external media
• Strong organisational skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work to deadlines in a multi-tasked role
• Trustworthy and can demonstrate professional confidentiality
• Work flexible hours as the Club requires, this will include matchday working evenings and weekends
• A full UK driving license is essential
