Communications Officer – English Institute of Sport

Job Description
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
We are seeking a new Communications Officer, who can lead and drive key areas of our communications strategy in a vital year – the year of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This position is primarily responsible for the smooth operation of EIS internal communications systems and processes, in order to share information and updates across 350+ employees spread across numerous sites. As our people are a crucial part of the EIS’s ability to be effective and successful, the new Communications Officer will play a key role in ensuring our people are well-informed, receive important information at the right time, and feel part of the performance of the British team on the world stage.
While internal communications is a key part of the role, we welcome applications from a range of communications and marketing backgrounds, and previous internal communications experience is not a requirement. The new Communications Officer will join a small team, providing great opportunity to be hands-on, to grow into new areas, to take on a high level of responsibility and to lead on project and agency work. As such, commitment, enthusiasm and attitude are just as important as internal communications experience.
This role will also be responsible for:
Working with an agency to manage all EIS social media channels and digital output including e-newsletters and the website
Providing advice, support and assistance to EIS colleagues and practitioners on communications issues and enabling them to showcase the role, success and achievements of the organisation
Contributing to the development and delivery of the Marketing & Communications Team’s strategy and implementation across a variety of channels
Overseeing the development, delivery and evaluation of the EIS’s internal and digital communications strategies across multiple channels and platforms, including making recommendations for developments or streamlining as necessary
Supporting the development and maintenance of the house brand and style
Plan, research and write articles, blogs and stories and other assets for EIS channels and platforms
Working with colleagues in the Marketing & Communications team to provide support on marketing, media and press office activities when required.
Our generous benefits package includes:
29 days paid holiday per year (pro rata for part time roles) plus 8 bank holidays
Membership of EIS’s Occupational Sick Pay Scheme from your first day of employment
Support for Continued Professional Development
Automatic entry into Simply Health, a cash back plan for day to day expenses like dentist, eye tests, physio, etc.
Generous pension scheme
Discounts on Shopping, Entertainment, Travel and Lifestyle services through our Benefits portal
