The Goldsmiths’ Company is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London and is actively engaged in supporting Britain’s contemporary gold and silversmithing trades. Based in the magnificent Goldsmiths’ Hall, close to St Paul’s Cathedral, this position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PR professional with an interest in contemporary design, education and heritage.
We are seeking a communications officer to develop and promote the company and its work, to both internal and external audiences – in particular, media covering contemporary culture, fashion and design, education and the jewellery trade.
Adept at building strong relationships with journalists, photographers, editors and broadcasters, across a range of media, you will seek to maximise positive press coverage for all aspects of the company’s activities, including the London Assay Office and The Goldsmiths’ Centre (a leading educational facility opened in 2012). A primary responsibility will be the promotion of Goldsmiths’ Fair, the UK’s most prestigious contemporary jewellery and silver selling exhibition.
To be successful, you will need a proven track record of securing coverage, excellent IT skills and confidence in using social media. A strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary art, culture and the media is essential.
You must also be confident, diplomatic and persuasive and have an excellent standard of written and spoken English.
