Wigan Warriors Community Foundation is Wigan Warriors official charity and uses the power of Sport to make a positive difference to people’s lives. We work across many areas in Wigan and Lancashire delivering a wide range of programmes from rugby league coaching through to programmes that improve health, wellbeing and improving the career prospects of young people and adults.
Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced rugby league/primary school sports coach to lead on outcomes set by Sky Try Rugby League delivery and the joint ‘Club and Community’ development strategy.
Salary: £18,000
The role is based initially on a 12 month fixed term contract with a view to extension, subject to funding and performance
You will:
• Work towards and achieve participation targets set by SKY TRY by delivering rugby league to primary schools across Wigan.
• Ensure effective reporting is carried out, on time, through the online tool Upshot.
• Actively increase the number of individuals regularly participating in sport, developing school club links and give everyone the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
• Support the School Sport Partnership Officer to deliver and grow the Foundation’s PE and School Sport Plus+ programme.
• Develop and deliver programmes that link to both core and extra curriculum delivery for Primary & Secondary schools and maximise the number of partner schools the foundation works with across the borough of Wigan and beyond.
• Support and delivery on holiday camps, ensuring that every child has a positive and unforgettable experience.
• Work towards the key club and community joint strategy objectives that will maximise ticketing, match day and promotional initiatives at grassroots level and beyond through all activities delivered.
• Work unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends (including all home match days) when required.
You will have:
• NGB Level 2 qualification in Coaching Rugby League
• A proven track record of delivering rugby league coaching to young people in a school or community environment.
• Significant experience working in or developing sport with young people.
