Community Sports Officer – GLL

Job Description
GLL is looking for a part time (30 hours per week) Community Sports Officer based at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby, Warwickshire; this state of the art leisure centre offers a 100 station gym with 40 fitness classes per week, two swimming pools, sauna and steam suite. Community is at the heart of everything we do. Here at GLL, one of our key aims is to make sport and fitness available and accessible to the communities in which we operate. We are investing in our facilities and need a passionate Community Sports Officer to help us develop community participation in sport.
This is an interesting role that will use your passion for sport as well as your people skills. The main objective of the role is to interact with the community to encourage and increase participation in sport. You will be dealing with a range of people as diverse as school children, the elderly, religious and ethnic groups, so you will need to have excellent communication skills to be able to relate to each type of person. You will work closely with the General Manager, Partnership Manager and the local authority to assess the sports that you will be promoting as well as your methods and successes.
Ideally, you will have a degree in sports development or a sport-related subject and be able to demonstrate your experience of working in the field such as coaching and teaching. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload and will be self-sufficient. You will be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations. A creative thinker, you will thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in sport and exercise.
