Job Description
đź“ŁA bit about the role
You’ll be helping us tell the story of rowing and rowers through video. Engaging our members and followers with content to keep them safe, informed and ultimately inspired. Your work will be distributed through our digital channels including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and our website – helping us to increase our followers and members.
There’s a huge variety to rowing and so your days will be varied too – this could include:
-popping over to Italy to film the GB Rowing Team on training camp;
-battling the elements to tell the story of one of our Championships events;
-helping live stream our CEO’s latest update; or,
-producing an awesome video to help raise donations for our charitable foundation.
You’ll be part of the Partnerships & Communications team and will collaborate across the team to help make sure your content drives the right results and can be accessed as easily as possible. You’ll be a key player in our content planning – helping come up with the ideas that will get the most engagement.
We’re a small team and so we might also ask you to do other bits from time to time.
đź‘‹ A bit about you
You’ll be excellent with a camera and a whizz at Premiere Pro and After Effects. You’ll be comfortable producing, filming and editing. We need someone who understands social media, what people want to see and how video can help drive our messages and objectives.
You need to have a can-do attitude and be someone who will make things happen. You’re not going to be sat on the sidelines – in an exciting year for the sport with the Olympics and Paralympics, you’ll be thrown straight in. You need to be creative, highly motivated and forward-thinking – someone who gets excited and inspired when they see a good piece of content. You’ll need to be equally comfortable creating content with elite athletes, club rowers or our CEO.
If you’re good at graphic design that would be a bonus and whilst it will help if you’re passionate about rowing and sport more generally, it’s not essential.
🚣‍ A bit about us
Our passion is rowing. We are the governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting grassroots rowing in England and getting the GB Rowing Team ready for the Olympics, Paralympics and other international competitions.
We are a membership organisation with over 33,000 individual members and we are looking to support over 550 affiliated clubs and 220 affiliated events. We cover all types of rowing whether it’s on the river, in the gym (on a rowing machine) or even on the sea and so a key aim is to use our content to help engage the wider rowing community.
The GB Rowing Team has been hugely successful, winning gold medals at every Olympics since 1984 and every Paralympics since rowing was introduced in 2008. We have an inspiring group of elite athletes who are all engaged and keen to get involved in promoting their sport.

You’ll be based in our head office alongside the river in Hammersmith, London but you’ll need to travel both around the country and internationally. You’ll be employed full-time with a salary of around £22,000 each year, dependent on your experience. You’ll also get some great perks as part of the team at British Rowing including 25 days holiday each year and free staff kit
