About World in Motion:
World in Motion are one of the few truly global sports management companies. In our 20-year history, we have completed over 1,000 contract/transfer negotiations, and work with football clubs all over the world – with direct contacts and clients including international footballers, managers, directors of football, scouts, analysts, and goalkeeper coaches. Whilst the majority of our business is in football, we also work in a range of other sports including rugby union, cricket and boxing.
World in Motion have worked hard to build an excellent reputation within the agency industry for our professionalism and forward-thinking approach. In 2016, we established an ‘analytics’ division to cement our status at the intellectual cutting edge of football agency and recruitment. The work serves an internal function to add an objective lens to player identification and marketing, along with an external function in the form of consultancy packages for clubs and players.
Role tasks:
(including, not limited to)
• Data analysis & metric development
• Writing programmes to manipulate and blend various data sources
• Maintaining & cleaning datasets
• Report writing
• Data collection
• Responsibility & creative freedom to produce original cutting-edge analysis & insight
Essential Attributes:
Technical:
• Strong experience coding in R and using the Shiny package (applicants who code in Python will also be considered)
• BSc/BA with a quantitative focus, or evidence of equivalent aptitude
• Very comfortable handling data and performing various statistical and machine-learning analyses
• Ability to accurately interpret data, and concisely communicate in writing and verbally the findings to people with varying levels of expertise
• Keen eye for visualising data
• Experience using version control
• Understand the advantages and limitations of qualitative and quantitative methods
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving
Interest in Sport:
• Passionate interest in and knowledge of sports (particularly football, rugby, cricket)
• Encyclopaedic knowledge of players, and a good understanding of tactical philosophies
Personality:
• Personable, will thrive in a relaxed and flexible professional environment
• Creative, innovative and independent self-starter
• Driven and enthusiastic
• Able to work efficiently, with attention to detail, to tight deadlines, whilst balancing a varied task list
• Able to keep information confidential
Desired Experience/Attributes:
• Quantitative analysis in a professional environment
• Quantitative analysis of sport (professionally/in a blog format/etc.)
• Experience working within a professional football club
• Experience/interest in rugby and cricket analysis
Remuneration:
£25-30,000 per annum (dependent upon experience and qualifications) + commission
