The IBI Pharma division of the Informa Group has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Editor for Clinica. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a career-driven and ambitious journalist looking to develop their career further in an established and ever-growing  market insights brand.

Clinica Medtech Intelligence is the leading source of regulatory, market and competitor information for the medical devices and diagnostics industries. It covers a broad range of product sectors, including cardiology, in vitro diagnostics, orthopaedics, imaging, neurology, surgery, drug delivery, among others. .

Reporting to the Editor of Clinica, the successful candidate will join our team to delivery timely, business-critical information to subscribers via its daily news alerts and website. You will closely follow commercial and R&D developments in the medical device industry and produce original editorial content – news, analysis, interviews, company profiles, infographics and other features – based on these developments.

As such we are seeking an experienced journalist with an in depth understanding of the medtech industry, or at least of the healthcare market.

Main activities and responsibilities

Identify, research and write news, analysis, company profiles and market insight features based industry developments
Maintain Clinica’s M&A deal and product approval database
Generate analysis articles by leveraging databases and information from Clinica’s database as well as from other relevant Informa intelligence sources
Cultivate expertise and contacts in the medtech industry
Support Clinica’s digital platform by identifying opportunities for multimedia content that would add value to stories
Attend both internal and externally organised medtech conferences in order to generate new content, develop contacts and pick up sales leads.
Provide operational support to the Editor
Provide support to sales and marketing and product training when required

Key Competencies

In depth knowledge of the medtech industry with contacts across the industry
Ability to use social media tools to promote Clinica’s editorial content
Comfortable working with a variety of multimedia content and the ability to spot opportunities when this would add value to the product
Strong presentation skills
Consistently express an informed, knowledgeable interest in learning or contributing more to the editorial process for the benefit of the publications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:   

Degree in Journalism and/or Life Science
Ability to write clearly and cogently
Ability to translate complex information into readable copy
A high level of commercial awareness
Computer literacy commensurate with working in MS Office and the capability to learn customized editorial systems.
Social media presence and skills.
