The Institute for Government is seeking an experienced professional with skills in sub-editing, web editing and design to work across our publishing operations, with a particular focus on text production and creative design work.
Operating as a charity and on an entirely non-party political basis, the Institute works to promote more effective government by undertaking and disseminating research, running events, and helping senior civil servants and politicians to develop their skills and their organisations. Central to this work is our website and publications programme – and we’re currently expanding our communications team along with our use of data, emails and social media.
Acting as a deputy to our Head of Publishing, the successful candidate will work closely with research colleagues to sub-edit and produce reports and blogs; maintain and update our website; and help to manage our email communications. And they’ll take the lead in expanding our in-house design work: you’ll need demonstrable skills in producing illustrations, infographics, page layouts or short videos, enabling us to make our publications and web presence more engaging and attractive. An interest in and knowledge of the operation of government would also be a distinct advantage.
Our new Deputy Head of Publishing will play a crucial role in improving the way the Institute communicates, helping us to broaden our in-house skills whilst maintaining our reputation for high-quality publishing. In return we can offer an excellent employment package, including a contributory pension, catered lunches and pleasant offices on the Mall.
