Cypress is a large, split-site, primary school set in the north of Croydon, but surrounded by lovely green spaces.
Cypress is led by one head teacher across both the infant and junior sites. The school employs two deputy head teachers. They are based usually on one specific site, and are known to the school community as “Heads of School” i.e. head of infant or head of junior site. Also employed are three assistant head teachers; one for the infant site, another for the junior site and one as inclusion manager across the whole school.
Cypress has only formally been a primary school since September 2012. Improvements in KS2 have been rapid since that time. The school is in a strong position, as a whole, now.
Due to the relocation of our one of our current deputies, we are looking to appoint a new deputy head teacher. The successful applicant will, initially, be based primarily on our junior site.
The ethos of Cypress is diverse and exciting. We strive to enthuse children’s learning through creative and exciting learning opportunities. Experiential learning is driven by: local and regional environment use; visitors and performances in school; sharing and celebrating our diversity and local and national initiatives.
We place great importance on the arts, science and sport, as well as a relentless focus on the basics. We welcome the use of innovative technologies to motivate children and engage with our community.
We place great emphasis on staff and governor team work and well-being. We work as a whole: governors and staff work together to support our pupils and their families. This includes our administrative and premises staff, family support workers, learning mentors, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors, wrap around care workers and teachers.
