Deputy Headteacher – Giffard Park Combined School – Milton Keynes

Giffard Park Primary School is an established two form entry, mixed primary school with 384 pupils on roll, serving the communities of Giffard Park and surrounding areas to the north of Milton Keynes. Committed to ensuring that all its children fulfill their academic potential, whilst, at the same time, developing as ‘well-rounded’ citizens, the school places a high emphasis on the ‘traditional values’ of manners, good behaviour and excellent communication skills, as well developing 21st century skills, particularly I.T. skills.

The school has gone a long way to addressing the issues that led to its “Requires Improvement” Ofsted judgement of October 2013. A new finance and administration team is in place and a stable IT platform has been installed. The school is now in a position to focus on educational priorities and we are looking for a Deputy Headteacher to work with our newly appointed Headteacher to:

Provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school.
Maintain a focus on improving the quality and consistency of teaching and learning, assessment and feedback.
Prioritise closing the gap for disadvantaged pupils and raising achievement with particular emphasis on KS1.
Promote the school’s inclusive ethos and develop innovative ways to engage with parents and stakeholders to position the school at the heart of its community.

You should be an inspirational leader with a strong commitment to raising attainment and taking our school on its journey to Good and beyond. You will combine a vision and energy for children’s education with the focus and drive needed for whole school management. Committed to excellence and dedicated to lifelong learning, you have the ambition, skills and energy to provide for every child within our school.

In return for your energy, integrity and enthusiasm, we offer you the opportunity to be part of the Senior Leadership Team working alongside some excellent teachers, a committed Governing Body and fantastic children who are all keen to learn. This is an opportunity to have a real impact on a school that is well placed to move beyond immediate challenges and become a truly outstanding institution.
