In 2021, England will host the largest team sporting event in the world that year – the Rugby League World Cup, which will be the biggest and best ever in its history that dates back to 1954 when the tournament began.
32 competing nations in the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions will play in 61 matches across 21 venues, including St James’ Park, Elland Road, Anfield, Emirates Stadium, M&S Bank Arena and Old Trafford. The most inclusive sport played in the biggest venues across the country.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
As a results focused content producer, you will be able to use your knowledge of digital channels and popular culture to bring our tournament to life. Taking creative concepts from idea stage to execution, in order to reach existing fans of our sport and new fans of the event.
You will be inquisitive and have a passion for innovation, willing to recommend and test new methods for reaching our audiences and amplifying our messages with the ultimate aim to sell 750,000 tickets across the Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair tournaments.
You’ll be responsible for leading our content strategy, tactical delivery and measurement across our digital and social media channels. Creating exciting stories that attract and engage audiences and deliver tangible commercial return.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Leading the content strategy in support of delivering on tournament objectives including making RLWC2021 the most digitally connected entertainment event of 2021.
• Producing compelling content across a wide range of mediums to tell our stories in new and innovative ways.
• Developing our tone of voice across digital channels, as part of our wider brand personality.
• Improving our approach to content syndication including contributing to the paid strategy and building content/media partnerships and relationships with influencers to extend our reach.
• Optimising RLWC2021 digital channels in order to grow audiences and generate quantifiable results, based on a test and learn approach.
• Leading a small team of content producers/interns, freelancers and volunteers.
• Briefing and working with third party agencies to produce content that delivers best value and high impact with the broader creative direction in mind.
• Creating guidelines and workflows that ensure all work is delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.
• Educating and upskilling teammates in content creation, emergent digital trends and audience insight.
• Assume additional duties as required, and actively contribute to RLWC2021 values.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Educated to degree level, professional certification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience of using content and digital channels to attract and grow new audiences.
• Ability to interpret data and insight to inform the development of effective digital content.
• Understanding of how to use content to drive revenue and commercial return.
• Proficiency in the use of social media and digital communications tools including expertise in working with content management systems and Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
• Working with third party agencies to deliver content that fits the broader creative vision and objectives.
• Enjoys multi-tasking, working in a fast-paced environment, and being part of a small and agile team.
• Excellent communicator capable of leading a team of in-house, freelance and volunteer content creators.
• Well-organised with the ability to deliver timely solutions.
• Strong copywriting skills, with high attention to detail.
• Video production, editing, photography, design or animation skills would be advantageous.
• Interest in trends across the digital, media and broadcast landscape.
• Good understanding of managing content in a sports environment would be helpful, but not required.
The successful candidate with report into the Head of Digital.
