Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE DISCIPLINARY PANEL
British Cycling is responsible for the management of disciplinary cases within the sport of cycling. Depending on the circumstances or seriousness of a case, it may be referred to a Disciplinary Committee hearing. The Disciplinary Panel is the pool of impartial independent decision-makers who may be called upon to form a Disciplinary Committee, as provided for in the Disciplinary Rules for Cycle Sport. The Disciplinary Panel also provides the pool for members of an Appeals Panel, should the ruling of a Disciplinary Committee be contested.
In the interests of transparency, British Cycling publishes the decisions of all Disciplinary and Appeal Committees unless there are circumstances whereby the Disciplinary Officer chooses to exercise their discretion.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DISCIPLINARY PANEL
a. To hold disciplinary enquiries under the Disciplinary Rules for Cycle Sport and, where appropriate, to impose sanctions as provided for in the Disciplinary Rules for Cycle Sport.
b. To hear appeals to the British Cycling Federation regarding any decisions made by a Disciplinary Committee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHAIR
a. To ensure due diligence of the disciplinary process ensuring an equitable outcome to each case;
b. To ensure disciplinary/ appeal committee meetings are run efficiently and maintained with good order;
c. To consider the facts of each case with impartiality;
d. To provide independent opinion to assist decision making;
e. To engage and communicate with all relevant parties within the disciplinary procedure;
f. To engage with the group’s induction process and participate in further training as required.
