The new SWPS Boathouse on the River Thames at Laleham opened in Spring 2016 and we are looking for inspirational and enthusiastic individuals who have either coached or competed at a high level in Rowing to join the School.
All coaches need to have all the skills required to deliver excellent structured coaching sessions where all pupils are learning, developing, being stretched and challenged and having fun. This role will require a very good communicator, someone who is approachable, patient and above all passionate about their sport. Sport plays a very significant role in the life of the School and the department has a very good reputation in the local area.
Rowing at SWPS
With the recent completion of the SWPS boat club, on the banks of the leafy Thames, the 200 strong rowing team can expand their already busy training and racing season. The facility includes: three boat bays where racing and training equipment is stored; a large training room with balcony; and a purpose built floating landing stage to launch crews onto the river.
Sport at SWPS
The department has four teachers who work alongside the elite coaches to deliver sport to our pupils and is housed in a purpose-built Sports facility consisting of a Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Dance Studio, 3 Netball, 9 Tennis courts, a purpose built Hockey pitch, a large Sports Field. Furthermore the School access facilities at River Bourne Health Club in Chertsey to support our Physical Education programme.
All girls in Years 7 – 13 are time-tabled for Physical Education, and it is offered as an option to GCSE, AS and A2 level. The school attracts a large number of talented pupils and sports scholarships are offered for into the Sixth Form.
The School has a strong House system and sports figure highly in this programme of event including our Annual Sports Day, Inter House competitions in a variety of Sports.
There is a full programme of co-curricular groups and activities, including rowing, netball, hockey, badminton, gymnastics, dance, trampolining, platies, tennis, athletics, football and rounders’.

The role will require flexible working hours, training will typically be either 1300-1800 or 1530-1800 on weekdays and will include significant amounts of weekend and holiday work, including residential training camps, on this basis Saturdays are an essential part of the role.
Therefore is proposed that an Elite Rowing Coaches will be asked to work approximately 20+ hours a week during term time depending on their sport. Each term is on average 13 weeks and term dates are available at http://www.swps.org.uk/Term-Dates.
Our Elite Rowing Coaches are self-employed and will submit an invoice for payment of their services at the end of each calendar month to accounts@swps.org.uk
