MAIN PURPOSE
• The event director is responsible for the successful planning and efficient operational delivery of the World Men’s & Women’s Squash Championships – Manchester 2017
RESPONSIBILITIES
• To produce and manage an effective, efficient event strategy and delivery plan for the 2017 World Squash Championships.
• To maximise the investment priorities of the funding providers.
• To provide reports, statistics and other relevant information to the Stakeholder Board as required.
• To coordinate and lead organisational and planning meetings with key delivery partners.
• To strategically manage resources to ensure the most efficient delivery of the event.
• To be responsible for the management of the event budget, ensuring that all financial regulations are complied with at all times.
• To provide effective leadership and direction for the Local Organising Committee and event team.
• To develop an event workforce strategy and recruit appropriately skilled people against agreed job specifications.
• To establish a monitoring framework to track actions, identify and manage risks, and report on progress.
• To operate in line with England Squash’s Brand values
• To be a positive ambassador for England Squash, representing the event to external stakeholders including, without limitation, the International Federations, funding partners and sponsors.
• Produce and deliver a commercial, marketing and communication strategy for the event.
• Create a participation, performance and commercial legacy for squash in England.
• Any other duties relating to the delivery of the Squash World Championships as identified by the Stakeholder Board

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Experience of managing successful international sporting events.
• Experience of managing numerous complex projects concurrently
• Experience of managing a significant budget.
• Experience of attracting and delivering on sponsors and stakeholders objectives.
• Extensive Project Management experience
• Experience of working with a largely volunteer workforce.
• Proficient in Microsoft IT packages including word, excel and power point
• Ability to manage complex relationships and demonstrate diplomacy.
ANTICIPATED HOURS OF WORK:
– 1-2 days per week from July – December 2016
– 2-3 days per week from January – April 2017
– 3 days per week from May – September 2017
– 4-5 days per week from October –December 2017
