The role of the Finance team is to support the wider organisation in achieving this vision by ensuring that the business prioritises spending towards the most impactful projects that will get the most amount of people active but also ensure the long-term commercial sustainability of the organisation. We are looking for a qualified finance professional to join the Finance team in this newly created role.
As part of the organisation’s key revenue streams, ukactive provides music licences to the fitness industry. As Finance Manager – Revenue and Control you will lead a team of 3, ensuring that key revenue streams (including music licensing, membership, events and products) are accurately billed by the team and that revenue is correctly recognised and reported in the Salesforce/Sage Financials systems. You will be the lead in producing key internal and external financial revenue information, and reporting this information to external partners.
A particular focus will be in reviewing existing processes, implementing efficiency improvements, and driving a culture of continuous review and development in your team so that the department continues to work more effectively. You will also support the Head of Finance during the implementation of a new Finance system in 2020.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Controls
– Ensuring robustness of all financial controls so revenue is accurately reported and recognised
– Overseeing the direct debit collection process to ensure that all collections are made at the specified times and any rejections or cancellations are investigated in a timely manner
– Completing and reviewing monthly journals and reconciliations, ensuring that issues are promptly investigated and resolved, and that AR can be accurately closed by the required deadline
2. Process Improvement
– Use of Salesforce CRM system to maximise productivity of team
– Develop and implement processes to support new products/services provided by ukactive to members
– With support from the Head of Finance, review and suggest process improvements for the membership cancellation process
3. Financial and Management Reporting
– Ensuring all revenue is correctly recognised for monthly management accounts and that deadlines are met
– Ensuring monthly revenue targets are met and results communicated to Head of Finance/Finance Director
– Lead on budgeting and forecasting for the Licensing function, and support Head of Finance on other revenue budgets as required
– Support Head of Finance in ensuring that accurate information is provided as part of the external audit
4. Team Management
– Day to day management of Licensing function
– Development of the team; ensuring that they are supported to produce ambitious but realistic KPIs and personal development objectives, and that team and individual targets are then met
– Monitoring of team performance and task allocation using Salesforce
5. Stakeholder / Customer Management
– Key point of contact for external partners including PPL, MPLC, EIDO
– Key point of contact for internal teams relating to Licensing, Membership, Events & Products revenue
– Support team in resolving complex customer queries, communicating issues internally to appropriate areas of the business
– Work closely with the rest of the Finance Function to ensure the smooth flow of financial operations
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Qualified CCAB or equivalent accountant
• Proactive and solutions based mindset
• Line management experience is essential
• Team player that can develop and inspire their team to perform at a high level
• Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
• Experience of Salesforce (or other CRM systems) would be desirable, however training will be provided
• Good IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel
• Effective communicator who can explain complex financial information to non financial staff
• Experience in supporting the implementation of a finance system would be desirable
• A passion for the fitness and the physical activity sector is desirable
