Job Purpose:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven individual to deliver within our Football Development tiers. We have 4 tiers, where we engage with 5 – 16 year olds across East London and Essex.
The successful candidate will aim to aid youth player’s development within WHU Foundation’s Elite Talent ID Player pathway, with a possibility for a trial for pre-academy and academy with West Ham United.
The Football Development Coach will be supported in their work by:
• Supervision in the workplace from Football Development Officer
• Supervision in the workplace from the Senior Football Development Manager
To contribute to WHU Foundation’s mission of facilitating positive experiences, raising aspirations and achievement amongst young people and promoting individual success.
Key Responsibilities:
• To Plan, deliver, and review sessions and support the Head Coach, whilst ensuring protocols are followed at all times.
• Prepare and implement a well-structured and progressive coaching programme ensuring a high quality, positive coaching experience centred around the needs of the youth players; 5-16 years old.
• Monitor and assess player’s development through training blocks
• To deliver in accordance to all WHU Schemes of Work
• To produce up to date session plans for all delivery
• Uphold a level of professionalism in every aspect of delivery and representation of WHU Foundation

The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas: –

Education/Qualifications/Experience:
• FA Football Coaching Qualification Level 2 (E)
• FA Emergency First Aid Certificate (E)
• FA Safeguarding Children Certificate (E)
• FA Football Coaching Qualification Level 3 (D)
• FA Youth Module 1 and 2 (D)
• FA Youth Module 3 and FA Youth Award (D)
• Over 18 months of experience of working with young people (5-16+ years) (D)
• Over 18 months experience of managing groups of young people (5-16+ years) (D)
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
• Experienced and demonstrate an understanding of coaching (E)
• Demonstrate a good understanding of how to engage and connect with young people, interested in sports. (E)
• Demonstrate an understanding of how to effectively work in partnership with other organisations to recruit young people (E)
• Clean Full Driving License (E)
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication /presentation skills, which are culturally competent (E)
• ICT Literate (E)
• Able to work within a diverse community and draw on individual strengths to promote individual development (E)
• Able to communicate with participants and the public. (E)
• Good organisational skills, able to prioritise and work within deadlines (E)
• Commitment to develop and improve own performance and CPD (E)
• Ability to work independently and supervise (E)
• Strong commitment to quality service delivery (E)
• Ability to get on with a wide range of people (E)
• Ability to monitor and evaluate programme delivery and report writing (E)
