Football Development Officer – Wigan Athletic Community Trust

Job Description
Wigan Athletic Community Trust is recruiting for a Football Development Officer to support the development of Wigan Athletic Ladies Football Club’s junior football teams, women’s and girls’ football across Wigan.
This new position will be responsible for creating new opportunities for young people in Wigan to play football and with Wigan and Leigh scheduled to host three matches at the Women’s European Championships in 2021, the role will have a particular focus around women and girls’ football.

You will:
•Develop a range of commercial football and sport activities that increase the unrestricted income of Wigan Athletic Community Trust to further benefit its charitable objectives
•Recruit players, coaches and volunteers for all Wigan Athletic Ladies FC junior football teams with a particular focus around under 9’s, under 10’s and under 11’s
•Act as Wigan Athletic’s representative on Wigan Athletic Ladies FC committee and support the Chairman and Secretary with administrative duties
•Work with key Community Trust staff and Wigan Athletic Ladies FC committee members to create a three-year development plan to help the club grow and develop
•Ensure that Wigan Athletic Ladies FC, women and girls’ football is promoted through the football club’s media outlets

The successful candidate will:
•Hold a FA Level 2 in Coaching Football
•Be educated to a degree standard (or equivalent) in a sport or community related subject
•Have a proven track record of developing and growing football specific community provision
•Have experience of creating commercial revenue through football and sports coaching activities
•Display an understanding of women and girls’ football and barriers to taking part
•Hold a full clean driving license and have access to a vehicle for work
