Job Description
Hull City Academy are seeking to recruit an ambitious, enthusiastic and methodical professional to join our team in the role of Head of Academy Physiotherapy on a permanent basis.
Based at Bishop Burton College, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver world-class medical provisions to players of all ages within our Academy pathway, being responsible for the running of the Medical Department under the guidance of the Head of Medicine and Sports Science. Applicants should possess a positive outlook, with excellent communication skills and the ability to organise in order to actively contribute to the continuous development of our scholars. This role involves both managerial and clinical duties, forming an important part of the structure of a Category 2 Academy under EPPP rules.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Fulfil the role of a Chartered Physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of all injuries and lead junior staff members in their own professional development.
• Effectively manage the Academy Medical Department in line with Club guidelines and current EPPP requirements; this should be delivered to the highest professional standard of clinical Physiotherapy Practice within the Academy’s framework.
• Deliver and co-ordinate the Club’s medical programme from U23s to U9s to ensure accurate diagnosis and rehabilitation of all injuries.
• Ensure all training and matches are covered by adequately qualified medical staff following EPPP guidelines.
• Plan and execute evidence-based rehabilitation sessions for all injured players in line with current evidence-based practice.
• Develop and lead an effective injury prevention programme for all players including assessment, analysis, delivery and auditing of collected data.
• Complete administrative tasks to keep accurate and updated information on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, ensuring all note-keeping is completed in line with HCPC regulations.
• Educate players, parents and coaching staff within the framework of confidentiality practice, regarding medical matters including injury diagnosis and prognosis.
• Contribute to the maintenance and security of all the medical records for Academy players.
• Maintain all legal and professional qualifications in relation to the position within the Club.
• Maintain detailed records for all activities in the department in accordanace with relevant legislation, policies and procedures including contributing to the submission of daily and weekly whereabouts for full time Academy playing staff.
• Work closely with the Academy Manager to ensure all requirements of the EPPP and Audit process relevant to this role are carried out at the appropriate time.
• Observe, monitor and react to the ever-evolving world of Sports Physiotherapy/Medicine, keeping up-to-date with current research developments in professional regulations and implementing changes.
• Attend all Academy team meetings as required, along with any national/regional sports medicine meetings as directed on behalf of Hull City Academy.
• Medically lead and contribute fully within the Academy CPD programme of the department, through both participation and delivery of material.
• Work closely with coaching staff to ensure medical aspects of player reviews and PMA are completed to the relevant standard.
• Liaise closely with and assisting the First Team medical staff regarding all injuries including diagnosis, prognosis and rehabilitation planning.
• Ensure the latest clinical, scientific and technical innovations to practice are incorporated into maintaining the highest level of care.
• Maintain professional distance from the playing staff at all times and act in an appropriate manner as a representative of Hull City Academy at all times.

Qualifications:
• BSc (Hons.) Physiotherapy or higher.
• MSc Sports Medicine Degree (Desirable).
• Member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
• Valid First Aid Certificate / National Sports First Aid Course.
• Minimum of FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMIF) or equivalent.
• Indemnity through professional registration to £5 million liability.

Skills required:
• Excellent clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills.
• Excellent problem solving, organisational and decision making skills with the ability to manage competing demands/ deadlines within in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent range of clinical treatment skills with an emphasis on rehabilitation.
• Excellent management skills to lead a group of Chartered Physiotherapists/Sports Therapists within the medical department.
• A good understanding of the principles of human performance and how they relate to clinical sports medicine.
• Ability to lead individual/ group sessions in both gym and pitch based environments within the current framework of the Academy Sports Science and Medicine Department.
• Establish relationships and influence key stakeholder groups.
• First Aid experience, preferably ITMMIF (as a minimum) that includes knowledge of defibrillation techniques.
• Hold a full driving licence.
