Job Description
UK Sport is leading the drive to create British champions, in our role as the nation’s high performance sports agency responsible for investing in our brightest medal hopes. UK Sport’s investment played a pivotal role in delivering the amazing success achieved by British athletes at the London Olympic and Paralympics Games. Our targets for Rio are even more ambitious.

The Head of Commercial role at UK Sport will develop and implement a strategy to generate significant commercial revenue. This revenue will benefit the high performance sport system in the UK and improve the UK’s position in Olympic and Paralympic sport globally. The role will also manage key relationships with National lottery stakeholders, UK Sport’s existing commercial partners, British Olympic Association and British Paralympic Association. The role will also provide commercial advice and support to the whole organisation and funded National Governing Bodies (NGB).

    The Head of Commercial will:

• Work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to negotiate, secure and manage all sponsorship, partnerships and licensing agreements on behalf of UK Sport.
• Develop creative opportunities to raise new commercial revenue streams to support the World Class Programme with a particular focus on monetising unique intellectual property and its wholly owned subsidiary, the English Institute of Sport.
• Work with the different NGB’s of Olympic and Paralympic sports to attract more commercial investment to develop the sports.
• Develop and deliver UK Sport’s long term commercial strategy.
• Effective liaison with legal, financial and other key support areas to ensure that any commercial agreements maximise benefits for UK Sport and the World Class Programme without compromising any other legal or regulatory agreements.
• Monitor the “National Lottery Promotion” schedule within the NGB funding agreements.
• Supervise the Athlete Volunteer Appearance programme and delivery of all National Lottery athlete appearances.
• Effective line management of the Commercial Partnerships Manager and Commercial Coordinator.

  We are looking for someone who has the following skills/experience:

• Negotiating and managing commercial partnerships and sponsorship arrangements for an organisation or on behalf of various organisations to realise significant revenue
• Expertise of experience of managing licensing programmes and maximising commercial revenue from intellectual property
• An excellent understanding of the commercial landscape for British sport, and the impact of London 2012 on the ability to raise commercial revenues
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain working relationships
• Managed direct reports
