We are looking to recruit an exceptional Head of Events who can work with drive, passion and energy to promote the vision and values of Glasgow Life and its partners.
Over the last 20 years Glasgow, together with its partners, has built an enviable reputation for delivering world-class major events and intends to build on this reputation in the coming years.
You will be responsible for the largest local authority Events Team in the UK and will oversee the company’s events responsibilities including the delivery of the new Glasgow Events Strategy. You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of a portfolio of major annual and one-off events as well as overseeing the funding and support of significant third-party organised events. You will also be responsible for the strategic planning and bidding for future major events through to 2030 in accordance with the Glasgow Events Strategy timeframe.
You will be leading a large and diverse team of knowledgeable, skilled and motivated colleagues and you’ll instil a high performance culture which will lead to the team continuing to deliver world-class events.
As well as being a leader in the field of major sports and cultural events, you’ll have significant experience within the operational and delivery aspects of major events, managing budgets and leading teams at a senior level. You’ll be able to demonstrate a strong track record of problem solving and using analytical skills to find creative solutions to operational challenges. Your people skills will be second to none and you’ll be comfortable managing relationships and communicating persuasively at director and board level, with elected members and with external organisations. A professional project management or event management qualification is desirable.
