Job Description
Active Communities Network is recruiting for a high-end professional with significant experience of working with multiple stakeholders, driving communications and marketing strategies. This new post in a newly developed department will have an outward facing role, liaising with government, corporate supporters, grant funders, donors and other sport for development / youth work charities to ensure Active Communities Network remains a cutting edge and widely respected charity delivering sports based programmes across the UK and overseas. The post will drive our partnership programme – 5 Star Active, a UK wider collective of charities. We are seeking a self-motivated, well connected, vastly experienced and astute individual who can capitalise on the assets of Active Communities Network, enhancing our reputation and contribute to the organisations growth and sustainability.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Management and development of all Marketing and Communications content
Project Management function from concept to execution of a range of tasks including events, press office, social media, marketing materials and strategies to engage
Ensure a strong ACN brand identity is developed and built on
Execute strategies to increase awareness of ACN’s work in appropriate forums with the goal of significantly strengthening the brand of ACN amongst our peers, academics, commissioners, our service users and the public
Manage and oversee a fundraising campaign and develop new partnerships with corporate organisations with a target of in excess of £100,000 per annum
Provide a support function across the 5 Star Active partnership producing bespoke pitches and funding bids.
Liaise with and network with key influencers in the sport for development, youth work and community development sectors on local, national and global levels ensuring that ACN is represented at all levels
Support and manage ACN’s Events team in developing, managing and executing a vibrant events programme
With the Senior Management Team, hold funder relationships with key agencies, namely the ASDA Foundation, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and BT Sport
Manage a range of contractors who provide support services such as designers, photographers, journalists and other suppliers
Work with local managers to develop strategies to increase awareness and brand within core ACN delivery areas (London, Manchester, and Belfast)
Maximise the use of high profile ambassadors, high profile strategic partners, and a formal collective of charities making up the 5 Star Active partnership to place ACN in the media and politically.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a communications or similar role
Significant understanding of the sport for development, youth, and community development agendas on a local, national and global context
Evidence a clear understanding of the voluntary sector in the UK
A creative thinker who will bring innovative approaches
Holds strong relationships with key influencers in the sector and evidences skills to develop new partnerships and relationships.
Experience of managing fundraising initiatives and campaigns
Ability to create new content and keep pace with the sector
Understanding of ACN’s core aims and objectives
Performance driven
Educated to degree level in a related field
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build alliances, and ability to manage key relationships on behalf of ACN with corporates, government and sector partners.
Demonstrate ability to work in a fast paced environment managing multiple priorities and workloads on time and on budget.
