Job Reference: De/SLT15
For September 2015, we are seeking to appoint an inspirational Head of School to drive forward with our agenda of raising standards and providing the very best outcomes for our students.
Our current Headteacher, Michelle Murphy, has announced her intention to retire in August 2016 after 20 years of service at Burnside, 12 of which as Headteacher, and the decision has been made to restructure the SLT to make succession planning as successful as possible. She will become Executive Headteacher for her final year at Burnside and it is envisaged that the new Head of School will aspire to take up headship within 12 months.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique and highly successful College. In September 2004, we moved into a brand new school, which was built in partnership under the PFI scheme. Our state of the art facilities offer opportunities for innovative teaching and an exciting learning environment for all our students, including interactive whiteboards in all classrooms.
Burnside College has an excellent reputation both for its academic results and for its commitment to inclusion. We are very proud of our achievements and in our most recent Ofsted Inspection (October 2013), we were deemed to be “Good with many significant Outstanding features”. For the past 2 years, we have been listed in the top 20% of schools nationally for delivering outstanding progress at Key Stage 4. We are also highly successful at delivering excellent outcomes for KS5 students with 50% of our students gaining A* – B in academic subjects for the past 2 years as well as superb vocational results in this key stage.
You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are an excellent leader and role model for staff and students alike and have a proven track record of raising standards.
If you wish to apply, outline in a letter of no more than 3 sides of A4 your suitability for the role by Friday 27th February.
