Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wasps Rugby Club as Head of Strength & Conditioning for the 2020/21 season.
We are looking to recruit a highly driven and exceptional practitioner with experience of working within elite sport and ideally rugby union. You will lead on athletic performance training programming and sports science processes, complementing existing medical services and helping to drive overall performance.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead a team of Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Placement Students and specialist contractors to support an elite rugby union team
• Develop off-season, in-season and contribute to return to play programming for all senior players
• Develop and maintain performance KPI’s to support agreed performance outcomes
• Deliver on field and off field Strength & Conditioning sessions
• Lead on recovery planning and oversee performance nutrition
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team including coaches, physiotherapists, analysts and team management
• Drive standards within the Strength & Conditioning department and wider team to ensure players are motivated, educated and are maximising their performance potential
• Work with academy staff to ensure the smooth physical transition of players through the pathway
• Provide match-day support to the 1st team
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Relevant degree in Strength & Conditioning or Sports Science
• UKSCA or relevant Strength & Conditioning qualification
• Experience of working within professional elite sport for at least 5 years
• Excellent understanding of the needs and demands of Premiership Rugby
Desirable
• Relevant post-graduate qualification in Strength & Conditioning or Sports Science
• 3+ years working within a successful professional rugby environment
• Line management experience within professional elite sport

• Strong communication skills, in particular motivational ability, with a high degree of emotional intelligence
