Job Description
Huddersfield Giants R.L.F.C. Play in the top flight of the English rugby league. In 1895 the club was one of the 22 founding clubs of the Northern rugby football union. The club has enjoyed much success throughout its rich history including 7 championships 6 challenge cups. The most recent of which was the 2013 Super League, league leaders shield.
As part of the on going development and restructuring an exciting opportunity has arisen at the club for an experienced, proactive and passionate individual to join its established Sports Medicine Department as Head Physiotherapist.
The successful candidate must display excellent leadership abilities through clear and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team; ensuring a gold standard of medical care is delivered to all players.
Candidates must possess advanced clinical assessment and treatment skills as well as innovative rehabilitation techniques and training interventions to prevent injury, restore optimal function and contribute to enhancing sporting performance.
Whilst previous involvement in professional rugby league is preferential; all candidates with an experience of working in a professional sporting environment will be considered:
Role responsibilities
• Lead/mentor – assistant and academy physiotherapist
• Injury assessment & management
• Development of rehabilitation programmes for injured players
• Development and integration of injury screening protocols
• Development and integration of injury prevention protocols
• Maintain up to date knowledge through CPD
• Provide pre-game preparations and first aid on match day.
• Attend/lead performance and coaching meetings.
Essential criteria:
BSc or MSc in physiotherapy
Experience working in sport
Experience of leading and working in a multidisciplinary team
Experience in sports rehabilitation
Experience of pitch side management
Desirable:
Current Pitch side first aid course (ideally IMMOFP)
