Independent Board Member (Finance) – British Swimming

Job Description
A unique opportunity to help define, prepare and lead Olympic and Paralympic sports to the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games is being offered as an integral part of the British Swimming Board.
This is a truly great time to be involved in British aquatics sport, building upon the momentum of recent successes at the Gwangju FINA World Championships and London World Para Swimming Championships, which saw record breaking performances by British athletes. The governing body is seeking an Independent Board Member to provide a vital contribution to the strategic leadership and development of high performance aquatic sports in Great Britain.
The board maintain an integral role in the strategy of attaining and delivering major aquatics events in Great Britain. On the journey to Tokyo 2020 British Swimming has already showcased its ability to host a series of internationally acclaimed events including the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, London 2019 World Para Swimming Championships and FINA Diving World Series.
The Board is keen to attract applications from those with a financial background and who hold an accountancy qualification with the relevant expertise. The successful individual must have experience of considering complex issues related to evaluating strategic performance. An appreciation of the various aspects of effective modern business practice along with particular regard to governance is essential and an interest in high performance sport would also be beneficial.
The appointment is for a four year term from 1st January 2020. The applications will be considered by the Nominations Group of the Board.

A remuneration fee of £4,000 per annum is payable in addition to reasonable travel expenses incurred in fulfilling the role.
