Lead Academy Physical Performance Coach – AFC Wimbledon

Job Description
AFC Wimbledon are offering an exciting opportunity for a graduate physical performance coach / S&C coach / Sports Scientist to work in the Academy.
The role will involve:
Management
1. To oversee the Academy Physical Performance/Sports Science Department with regards to delivery of sessions, management of volunteers/placement students and development of the physical curriculum for all U9-18s
2. To develop the physical curriculum specific to the needs of each phase
3. To contribute towards each players’ Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
4. To contribute towards the multidiscipline aspect of Player Development Report (PDR) forms and attend the review evenings bi-annually
5. To attend, as and when, appropriate meetings regarding key issues within the academy
6. To ensure that the Academy Philosophy, Vision and Culture are upheld at all times, whilst adhering to Football League Guidelines in order to ensure the Club’s status as a Category 3 Academy.
7. To ensure good communication with the Physical Performance & Medicine Manager and Academy Management Team

Tasks & Responsibilities
1. To deliver sessions focused on improving players’ physical development (including but not limited to; speed, agility, power, strength, fitness)
2. To work with individual players to enhance their physical development & ensure the delivery of high quality individual sessions to players in each phase
3. To oversee the development of any part time volunteers / placement students with session observations, feedback and CPD sessions
4. To oversee the appropriate recording of session plans, evaluation and training minutes on the PMA
5. To work with the Physical Performance & Medicine Manager to develop the link between the academy and its external support companies
6. To oversee the departments Nutritional Programme including education to both players and parents.
7. To ensure the recording of PHV and Anthropometric data and it’s use within the academy
8. To work with the SS&M Manager to carry out SPARQ fitness testing and evaluate the data recorded
9. To work with the Physical Performance & Medicine Manager and Medical team to deliver Screening to all players annually
10. To attend a minimum of three schoolboy sessions per week and regular match days
11. To ensure Training Load is monitored throughout the academy
12. To ensure all appropriate data is uploaded and stored correctly on the PMA
In addition to these duties, the job holder is required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
• BSc in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning or equivalent
• FA Safeguarding qualification
• FA First Aid qualification and/or EFAiF
• Enhanced DBS clearance

DESIRABLE
• MSc in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning or equivalent
• FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification
• UK SCA accreditation
• Gym / Fitness Instructor Qualification
• Clean Driving Licence

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (desirable)
• At least 2 years’ experience coaching in a sports environment
• Experience dealing with young players, parents and be able to demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in a range of IT applications
• High levels of motivation and the ability to dedicate time to the programme as the schedule determines
• Strong Leadership and Management skills
• Excellent communication & standard setting skills
• Experience with the PMA system
• A understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
