Role Description:
The successful candidate will be part of a professional Saints Southwest team, working with over 10,000
children per week across the South West. The right person will also have the chance to progress and
expand their role within the Saints Southwest setup and have the opportunity to receive mentoring and
guidance from our team.
The role is to lead and quality assure Saints Southwest’s Football Development programme expansion
within Cornwall in accordance with our coaching philosophy and curriculum.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
● Understanding of the Saints Southwest Performance Plan and adhering to youth development rules
● Support planning of matches at least 7 days prior; e.g. book pitches, referees, timings etc
● Support planning of pre-season fixtures, training and facilities
● Oversee communication software for all teams within the programme via central CRM
● Support planning of Player/Parent inductions
● Plan and coordinate coaches on training nights
● Host and coordinate home fixtures
● Conduct coach observations and implementation of short, medium and long term coach development plans
● Effectively manage and develop part-time coaches to achieve the level of coaching required
● Monitor coaching and promote good practice across the Football Development Programme;
ensure part-time coaches are delivering coaching sessions in line with the coaching curriculum.
● Work with other key staff to set targets and outcomes in line with the Football Development Performance Plan.
● Liaise with other key staff to manage and develop players across the Football Development programme at Southwest.
● Contribute to the decision making process for recruiting, retaining and releasing both trialists and
Saints Southwest players.
● Compile performance reviews, attend multi-disciplinary meetings and report at parents’ evenings.
● Liaise with external academies to benefit the Saints Southwest players and programme.
● Organise and support events which will aid the Football Development Programme
● Liaise with other Saints Southwest staff/coaches to ensure all players are graduated into the
correct programme across the South West.
Player Recruitment
● Adhere to the Saints Southwest recruitment policy at all times
● Plan strategies for ongoing player recruitment, using support of other Saints Southwest members
● Promote and support planning of annual trial days
● Attend local tournament/fixtures to talent ID players (when requested)
● Use Saints Southwest social media platforms.
Communications and PR
● To manage the external communications and promotion of the Saints Southwest Football
Development programme in collaboration with marketing and consistent with Saints Southwest’s
approach to sport
● In collaboration with the Football Development Manager, to contribute to the delivery of Open
Sessions to showcase Saints Southwest
● To build relationships with like minded partners
Professional Specification
Essential
● Experience working with a team, supporting their long term player development
● Experience of preparing budgets, delivering these against agreed programmes, and monitoring
their expenditure
● An excellent knowledge of the Football community, grassroots Football, and player pathways
● Knowledge of FA guidelines
● A member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club
● UEFA B (or working towards)
● Academy/Development Centre experience
● Full UK Driving Licence with access to own vehicle
● Experience in working with children
● To be able to adapt/be flexible
