Job Description
British Gymnastics is the UK Governing Body for gymnastics. We exist to support, lead and inspire all those involved or interested in gymnastics; from the creation of new programmes and activities at grass roots level in the community, to the development of talent producing international gymnasts.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we develop our learning and knowledge centre enabling us to provide a portfolio of high quality training and development to our staff and to the wider Gymnastics community. This includes face-to-face courses, online programmes and a variety of development initiatives, and ensures that training is relevant and effective for both the individual and the business.
As a new position in the organisation, this post is responsible for the development and delivery of the organisation’s training plan, creating training interventions which align to the organisations strategic goals and priorities.
The Role
The main responsibilities of the role are:
• Working with line managers from across the organisation leading on an analysis of skills gaps, training needs and talent management requirements that support strategic plans, organisational developments and HR/people strategies
• Working with colleagues in HR and IT to establish a Learning Management System; promoting, tracking and reporting on training opportunities and return on investment
• Working with HR to develop training interventions aligned to HR strategies and projects e.g. on-boarding, staff engagement, talent management, management development, organisational development etc.
• Using coaching and mentoring techniques and programmes to support personal development plans for designated Executives and Senior Managers.
• Leading on the development of a library of bitesize generic training resources that can be used both internally and externally
The Person
The ideal individual will have/be able to demonstrate:
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of L&D methodologies/ interventions, the learner journey, coaching & mentoring techniques, qualifications framework.
• A degree (or equivalent) in Learning & Development, HR, Organisational Learning or other appropriate subjects
• Effective Line Manager experience/skills
• Excellent communications skills, including written, verbal and active listening, with the interpersonal skills to interact and influence at all levels
• Energy, creativity and engagement in their approach and design of L&D strategies
• The ability to collaborate across teams and with senior leadership to generate results
• Demonstrate effective operational and financial planning/analysis and IT/administration skills
