Job Description
To provide physiotherapy services to the London Irish Amateur & Ladies Teams and to deliver best practice sports medicine services.
To liaise and work with medical, fitness and coaching staff on all physiotherapy related issues within LIARFC.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Operational: Head Physiotherapist
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Essential:
• BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
• Registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and membership to the Health Professionals Council (HPC).
• Pitch side trauma course certification.
• Good communication skills.
• The ability to work well within a team environment.
• Good organisational skills.
• Comprehensive taping/strapping skills
Desirable:
• Experience working in a sporting environment.
• Experience in planning and delivering individualised rehabilitation plans for both short and long term athletes
• Experience of working closely with other disciplines such as strength and conditioning coaches, sport scientists, sports analysts, and team management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To work with the other physiotherapists / sports rehabilitators in the treatment and monitoring of injuries
• To assist the medical team with the management of rehabilitation programs for long-term injured players
• Assist in maintaining accurate and detailed medical notes in line with HCPC guidelines
• Attend squad training and be available to give treatment throughout clinic hours
• To manage your own time, prioritise player clinical contact and admin duties as required
• Provide match day physiotherapy and pitch side trauma cover for both home and away matches and training days.
• Communicate with the medical team and coaches regarding progress of injured players on a regular basis
• Be trained and updated in acute pitch side care, including spinal injury, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• To assist in the management and maintenance of stock and emergency equipment
• Keep up to date on recent research in sports medicine and rugby related physiotherapy issues
