To be the guardian of the Gorkana database and maintain the accuracy and detail of the database. The role is to join the Specialist Hub covering broadcast, healthcare and regional data on the media database.

Establish and build journalist relationships. The role will include researching publications and individual journalists in order to ensure that our database is as up-to-date as it can be, as well as responding swiftly to client requests for particular information.

At times you’ll also assist our clients through excellent customer service over the phone and/or email.

It can be a fast-paced environment and the candidate should have a strong interest in the media industry and keeping up-to-date with key media industry news and editorial movements.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Researching and verification of journalist data, and updating the database accordingly in line with Data Protection
Identify and compile PR opportunities in the media, to be used by Gorkana clients
Maintain the accuracy of the database and your teams sectors through productive research and data entry
Managing time efficiently to meet personal KPIs
Responsibility for looking after a national newspaper
Build relationships with editorial staff and verify information for allocated newspapers and publications through telephone contact and face-to-face journalist meetings
Identify and interview key media players to discuss their role, career and publication as part of our ‘Gorkana Meets’ series
Proactively source media alerts covering journalist job moves / new launches within the industry
Help to support our client service team in dealing with PR clients queries including emails and telephone calls

    Skills:
Strong interest and knowledge of the media industry
Basic understanding of the PR industry
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work
Ability to conduct productive research via internet and telephone
Ability to deal with journalists at all levels
Relationship building and maintain relationships with journalists within your sectors
Computer literate (MS Office)

    The Person:
The successful applicant will be a confident communicator capable of quickly forming professional relationships with our sales and business development teams, winning the confidence of journalists and other media representatives.  You will also have:
Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Self-motivation: Target and data driven. Meets objectives and standards on own initiative including repetitive tasks.

Please note, the role is a one month rolling contract.
