National Development Manager – Pentathlon GB – Bath

Job Description
Pentathlon GB is the national governing body for the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon which involves five disciplines; fencing, swimming, riding, running and shooting. We are highly successful in winning Olympic medals, including success at London 2012 and in securing funding to support our participation and world class aspirations. We are now looking to achieve ambitious targets by growing participation in the sport and it’s products across the country.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven National Development Manager with a genuine flare for development to join the team at Head Office in Bath. You will be a dynamic team player, bringing energy to a busy but rewarding role, driving our ambitions and delivering the whole sport plan by maximising resources and building capacity.

We will consider those looking to step up into a management role or a secondment from their current employment.

    The Role

The National Development Manager will manage the National Development Team (NDT) and be a part of the Senior Management Team.

    The key deliverables of the role are to:

• Lead the National Development Team (NDT) to deliver Pentathlon GB’s mission and vision.
• Lead the delivery of participation and English Talent Programme (ETP).
• Embed participation and ETP activity into the sports infrastructure and ensure its sustainability beyond 2017.
• Engage with key partner organisations at national level.

    Knowledge and Experience

We are looking for an individual with experience of developing sport, excellent people skills and ability to deliver on objectives. This should include the ability to demonstrate experience in majority of the following areas:

• Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting structures in Great Britain.
• Previous experience of developing sport and encouraging participation.
• Able to demonstrate previous experience in managing projects, setting goals and achieving results.
• Able to form effective relationships and partnerships to enable the delivery of projects.
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of coordinating and managing teams of people.
• Proven ability to effectively work as part of a team and if necessary be able to use initiative and lead peers when required.
