National Performance Institute Director – UK Athletics – Loughborough

Job Description
UK Athletics (UKA), the National governing body for the premier Olympic/Paralympic sport of athletics is seeking to appoint a National Institute Performance Director to:
•Lead on the development and implementation of the National Performance Institute (NPI) strategy to deliver a strong and sustainable performance pathway; and
•Assist and support the Science Lead with the strategic and operational delivery of a “gold standard” sport science support infrastructure that can significantly assist with the delivery of medal targets at the Olympic/Paralympics, IAAF/IPC World and European championships.

The Role:
The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
•Define and deliver a strategy to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the NPI as an elite training base, to be recognised as one of the best in the World.
•Assist the Science lead in providing strategic leadership to the sport science research and innovation team, to ensure the successful delivery of the Performance Strategy that is aligned to athlete prioritisation and individual event strategies, to produce medals at European and global championships.
•As a leader to participate in the strategic planning process for each funding cycle for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Person:
The ideal candidate will have a range of skills including but not limited to:
•Proven track record of developing and implementing high performance strategies across the international and/or UK world class sport landscape.
•Success at providing a sport science support service at an international level;
•Significant experience in leading and managing support teams, including strategic planning, programme management, conducting analytical studies and managing budgets;
•Good relationship builder with excellent communication skills;
•Post graduate qualification in a science discipline, high performance coaching or a related field.
