Job Description
British Athletics are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilful Senior Physiotherapist (or senior osteopathic professional) to join our Performance Support team based at the National Performance Institute.
The British Athletics World Class Programme (WCP) supports over 100 athletes in their efforts to achieve medals at the major global athletics championships (Olympic and Paralympic Games and World Championships). The WCP performance headquarters are at the National Performance Institute (NPI) at Loughborough University. While many athletes are based and/or receive support from there, many athletes also reside and train elsewhere in the UK and overseas.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that athletes have the right support in place to achieve their goals, whether they are based at the NPI or elsewhere in the world. A critical part of the role will be providing a significant contribution to the success of the therapy service at the NPI through delivering excellence in therapy and working collaboratively with coaches, medical and sport science practitioners as well as supporting requirements of camps, competitions and priority athletes based outside of the NPI.
Applicants must hold a qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in physiotherapy or osteopathy from a tertiary institution, have a minimum 10 years post graduate experience as a physiotherapist (or senior osteopathic professional) working with athletes and coaches in high performance sport, have experience of developing and implementing innovative ideas, including working in an applied, adaptable and integrated manner and positively influencing athlete and coach support programmes, and extensive experience of planning, implementation and monitoring therapy support and modifying in accordance with results of assessment data.
The role will involve working closely with the CMO, the Head of Physical Therapy and the NPI Lead Doctor to ensure the WCP can achieve one of its strategic aims of being world leading in the provision of medical support to athletes.
