Special Olympics GB provides sports coaching and competition for people with an intellectual disability through a network of clubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As part of our commitment to providing a high quality experience for our athletes, we have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced person to join our small staff team to take the lead role in workforce training.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
1. Considerable experience in the delivery of a variety of training packages – ideally to a volunteer workforce.
2. Experience of conducting training needs audits (preferably within a third sector organisation) and designing training packages to meet identified needs.
3. A track record of utilising new technology in the development of training.
4. An understanding of intellectual disability and the ability to make training packages accessible to a varied audience.
5. The ability to effectively promote the benefits of training to a volunteer workforce.
6. Highly developed organisational and communication skills and an attention to detail.
7. An ability to think on your feet and the tenacity to overcome challenges.
8. An ability to work as part of a team.
Due to the nature of the role and national remit, travel to meetings and events will be a regular feature as will the requirement for the National Training Manager to work occasional unsociable hours to include weekends and evenings as and when required. SOGB has a ‘time off in lieu’ policy to recognise this requirement.
