Netball Coach – Canford School – Wimborne

Job Description
We wish to appoint for September 2019 a Netball Coach to focus on the development of our netball programme through instructing pupils and offering support and advice regarding the sport of netball, and preparing pupils for competition where appropriate. Along with a proven track record for coaching, it is anticipated that the successful applicant would hold at least the Level 2 Club coach qualification or be able to demonstrate previous coaching experience and a good understanding of the factors involved in delivering success in high performance netball. This position is for a fixed term of one academic year.

OVERALL PURPOSE
The role of the Netball Coach will be to develop pupils and offer support and advice regarding netball and any related activities. It will involve attending events both at Canford and at external venues, accompanying and supervising pupils at these events.
Supporting the Director of Sport as a Netball Coach the successful applicant will focus on the development of our netball programme. They will coach pupils in the technical skills of netball and encourage and support pupils wishing to compete at all levels. Other responsibilities include supporting pupils at fixtures, which will involve evenings and some weekend work, and organising in-house and external termly events.

Practical coaching
Autumn Term:
• To help coordinate and run regular netball training sessions (as the calendar allows) to prepare squads for the ISNC competition, PEDSSA, County and any other tournaments.
• To help run the core netball games option for those girls opting to take the sport in this term.
• To help run netball skills and / or shooting clinics during long lunchbreaks/late afternoons (as the calendar allows)
• To deliver some one-on-one analysis and review sessions with key netball players

Spring Term:
• To coach a netball team
• To assist the coaching of netball teams on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
• To assist the coaching of netball on Tuesday mornings
• To support the delivery of coaching to all other teams as and when necessary
• To help run netball skills and / or shooting clinics during long lunchbreaks/late afternoons (as the calendar allows)
• To deliver one-on-one analysis and review sessions with key netball players
Depending on their experience and expertise the Netball Coach may be involved in the academic curriculum and will be willing to commit to life in a busy boarding/day school. A suitable applicant may be asked to contribute to the delivery of another sport within the games programme.

The details of the role can be shaped to the strengths of the applicant. Remuneration will be dependent on the experience of the successful applicant.

Within the grounds our facilities include a sports centre (with a full-sized indoor hockey pitch), 12 grass sports pitches, a nine-hole golf course, a state-of-the-art fitness suite, two astro pitches, six hard tennis courts, six netball courts, a six lane 25 metre swimming pool, a real tennis court and a boathouse with river access.
