Netball Development Officer – GLL

Job Description
GLL is looking for a part time (18 hours pw) Netball Development Officer based at Dorcan Recreation Complex in Swindon, Wiltshire. Community is at the heart of everything we do. Here at GLL, one of our key aims is to make sport and fitness available and accessible to the communities in which we operate. We are investing in our facilities and need a passionate Netball Development Officer to help us develop community participation in Netball.
This is an interesting role that will use your passion for sport, particularly Netball, as well as your people skills to develop and co-ordinate a strategic approach to Netball development within Swindon. You’ll work with key partners to increase participation in the Swindon area and maximise usage of the Dorcan Netball Dome, offering a range of coaching, umpiring, volunteering and player development opportunities to ensure the future success of the sport and central venue. You’ll also be dealing with a range of people as diverse as school children, the elderly, religious and ethnic groups, so you will need to have excellent communication skills to be able to relate to each type of person. You will work closely with the General Manager, Partnership Manager, England Netball and Wiltshire Netball to assess the promotion of Netball as well as your methods and successes.
Ideally, you will have a degree in sports development or a sport-related subject and a Netball Coach qualification plus demonstrate your experience of working in the field such as coaching and teaching. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload and will be self-sufficient. You will be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations. A creative thinker, you will thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in sport and exercise.
