Non-executive Director – Angling Trust Ltd

Job Description
The Non-executive Director will work with the Chief Executive and other Directors in guiding the strategic direction of the Angling Trust and in overseeing and supporting the work of the Executive delivering the annually-agreed business plan.

It is expected that in order to achieve success the Director will:
– help to establish effective communication between Angling Trust and members and potential members
– be available for meetings where required with Angling Trust stakeholders and partners on agreed issues
– support the Angling Trust national and regional staff on communicating policy to members, prospects and stakeholders
– work with the CEO to provide progress and update reports to the Angling Trust Board
– keep updated with the latest developments in the agreed field including an understanding of the role of local, county and national partners in providing support for Angling Trust activities.
– positively promote the work of the Angling Trust amongst the angling community.

Person Specification:
The appointed person should have the following qualities:
-Good verbal and written communication skills
-Enthusiastic about developing angling and protecting the marine and freshwater environment
-Ability to work as part of a team and agree a consensus position
-Business experience sufficient to carry out the duties of a director in a company limited by guarantee.
-Understanding the importance of a positive public perception of angling to developing the sport.
-Prepared to give approximately 10 days per annum as a Director working on behalf of the Angling Trust without remuneration other than expenses actually incurred
-Experience of working at Board level, or if this would be your first non-executive role, of influencing the direction of your organisation at a senior executive level.

The Subscribing Members will be invited to vote and the candidate (s) with the most votes will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting, 28 November 2020. Nominated Directors are appointed to an initial three year term, with an option of a second three year term. A full induction pack will be provided to the successful candidates.
