Do you have what it takes to make a difference to Cerebral Palsy Sport, the country’s leading national sport disability organisation supporting people with cerebral palsy?
We want to recruit non-executive Directors, for an initial three-year term, to our Board of Directors. With our vision and mission, we need individuals who can help develop and maintain the charity’s strategic focus and direct the changing organisation towards its future.
Our vision is to support people with cerebral palsy to reach their life potential through sport and active recreation. Our mission is to improve quality of life for people with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities through sport, physical activity and active recreation. Our aim is to raise aspirations, promote inclusion and support people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to play, participate and enjoy sport and active recreation.
You would need to be able to make a commitment to Cerebral Palsy Sport and devote the necessary time, have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind.
In particular, we are looking for Directors who have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Legal; Income generation/fundraising through grant-making bodies, public sector or commercial organisations; Commercial marketing; Digital technology and social media and / or sports development knowledge and experience
Ideally, the successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
• An impressive track record of success in the private, public or voluntary sector
• The ability to operate at Board level in a national organisation
• Ability to think creatively and strategically; the skills to challenge current thinking at Board level
• A good understanding of the role that disability sport plays in society
• A clear commitment to improving diversity and equality and understanding the needs of under-represented groups in sport
We are particularly keen to achieve a diverse Board of Directors/ Trustees and Cerebral Palsy Sport operates an equal opportunities policy. We will pay Directors’ travel expenses and provide a full induction to the organisation’s work.
You will be expected to attend at least six board meetings a year, including the AGM, and to be part of a sub-committee, which will normally meet at Cerebral Palsy Sport offices in Nottingham, East Midlands or at a nearby location.
