Paracanoe Technical Support Coach
Location: National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham
Salary: Band 2 (Coaching) £20,910 – £30,110 FTE
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6FTE) 12- month Fixed-Term contract (1st March 2020 – 1st March 2021)
British Canoeing is the United Kingdom’s Governing Body for the sport and recreation of canoeing and kayaking. British Canoeing has an aspiration to deliver more medals in Tokyo and beyond and to inspire the next generation of athletes to pursue a passion for paddling.
The British Canoeing Paracanoe Technical Support Coach role, will operate within the British Canoeing Paracanoe Programme, supporting the development of nominated British Canoeing TID and programme athletes.
The purpose of the post is to support athletes to achieve Podium performance levels for a fixed term within the remainder of the Tokyo cycle. It will involve working at times that athletes are available therefore evenings and weekend working will be common practice.
It is essential that the Ideal candidate will has a proven background in performance paddlesport and ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of efficient forward paddling technique in Va’a and Kayak, have an understanding of the development needs of Paracanoe athletes and the ability to guide them to develop into Podium athletes using the WITTW model. This role will require a National Coaching
Qualification relevant for the position.
Due to the nature of the work and to be successful in the role, the post holder will need to be located within easy travelling distance of the National Watersports Centre, in order that they can be flexible to accommodate the training needs of both full time and student athletes. They need to be willing to work unsociable hours, including weekends, and able to spend extended periods of time abroad, as required, to deliver the best programmes possible for GB athletes.
