Pathways Strength and Conditioning Coach – Glamorgan Cricket Club

Job Description
The Position
The overall purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of Strength and Conditioning across the Glamorgan County Cricket Pathway and to assist the Lead S&C coach in delivery of S&C services to the professional players.

Main Duties:
• Conduct fitness assessments 3 times per year for all Academy players, and various development squads, or as deemed appropriate by Lead S&C and Academy Director
• Report results of screening and assessment to the Lead S&C, coaches and players as soon as possible using effective means of communication
• Plan and deliver an annually periodised strength and conditioning plan based on player and GCCC requirements
• Ensure a minimum of 2 sessions per week with the academy players
• Manage and oversee physical preparation of players that are in boarding schools
• Supervise monthly stature measurements for identified players
• Provide player education sessions
• Work alongside GCCC Physiotherapists and the Lead S&C Coach to provide rehabilitation to injured players
• In conjunction with Lead S&C and Physiotherapist, work towards developing a robust pathway system that supports the development of world’s best practice for GCCC
• Undertake regular professional development to keep abreast of world’s best practice
• Manage and supervise work experience support for all age group sessions (primarily off-season)
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:
• Experience gained in a professional sport
• Sports science / S&C degree; preferably post-graduate level
• Knowledge of elite cricket performance and practice methods
• Experience of working with developing athletes
• High quality S&C programming and coaching skills
• Practical knowledge of injury rehabilitation and prevention training
• Practical knowledge of nutrition strategies and recovery practices to support performance and health
• Practical knowledge of monitoring and analysis systems
• Leadership skills and ability to influence individuals and key stakeholders
• Good presentation skills
In addition, the role also requires:
• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
• Basic Life Support (sport specific) maintained annually
• Full UK driver’s license
• UKSCA accreditation (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
• Safeguarding Children certification
