BRITISH CYCLING PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR
The Great Britain Cycling Team has set an extraordinary performance benchmark
by which elite sporting success in this country and internationally, is measured
and admired.
Having finished top of the cycling medal table at the Olympics and Paralympics in
each of the last three cycles, British Cycling’s aim is to sustain success through to
Tokyo and beyond.
British Cycling is the nation’s largest cycling organisation and the national
governing body for cycle sport. Our mission in life is to deliver international sporting
success, grow and effectively govern cycle sport and inspire and support people
to cycle regularly.
As the strategic leader of Great Britain’s world class performance programme the
post holder will drive our ambition to deliver annual inspirational success across all
disciplines and culminate in achieving our medal targets in Tokyo 2020. They will
also play a critical role in contributing to British Cycling’s ambition of becoming the
most successful and popular sport and activity in Britain.
This role is about exemplary performance leadership and management. Alongside
a hugely talented team of riders, coaches and technical support staff, creating
a compelling performance vision and enabling all members of the team to
successfully deliver it.
This is likely to appeal to a performance leader with a specific interest in sustaining
performance success. A leader who understands how to cultivate a high
performance culture and mind-set to achieving this. An entrepreneurial thinker,
a future-focussed and emotionally intelligent leader who can drive our aspiration
through to remain a world leader.
Essential requirements are a background and recent experience of leading and
managing a team operating in elite sport at the highest level. A comprehensive and
applied understanding of elite coaching, integrated sports sport science/medicine/
technology/data delivery, international competition & elite training environments
and performance pathways.
