The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of boating, including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, windsurfing, inland cruising and narrowboats, and personal watercraft.
The RYA is currently recruiting for a Performance Manager to manage and deliver support for its sailors within British Youth Sailing and the British Sailing Team who are also currently in education. This is a new position which has been designed to ensure a robust, smooth and progressive programme is in place for all sailors within education across Youth and Olympic sailing.
As the Performance Manager your responsibilities would include (but are not limited to):
• Defining the objectives, delivering the strategies and ensuring the effective delivery of British Sailing Team sailors on a dual career trajectory;
• Developing and implementing a part-time sailor strategy, covering the important transition periods within the sailing progression programme;
• Managing the transition of sailors moving from British Youth Sailing to the British Sailing Team, and those moving from part-time to full-time sailing;
• Engaging with Higher/Further Education providers relating to the attraction and retention of youth sailors; and
• Managing and overseeing the activities & progress of the Youth Sailing squad. This includes the selection and monitoring of performance of both sailors and coaches.
To be successful in this role we are seeking someone with experience of working with young persons, parents and in the education sector. As the successful candidate, you will also have the ability to manage a complex matrix of issues to get the best possible performance results and the capacity for long-term planning and establishing comprehensive systems to achieve performance goals.
A passion for developing young persons in the sport is also essential for this role.
